Tour projects of the 1960s that shaped the city, such as Tim Seibert’s “Gulfstream Towers,” Frank Folsom Smith’s “Lawyer’s Professional Building,” and Jack West’s “Sarasota City Hall,” among others.  This tour will have several interior visits, but will mostly consist of exteriors.

“Siesta in the Sixties”

Limited to 30 Guests
Join Sarasota School architect Frank Folsom Smith and SAF Board Chair Christopher Wilson as they guide visitors through a number of Smith’s built works on Siesta Key, and visit other 1960s structures, such as Tim Seibert’s “Siesta Pavilion.” The tour will include two of Frank Folsom Smith’s condominiums that were recently renovated by Halflants + Pichette Architects.

“Southgate in the Sixties”

Limited to 25 Guests
Join SAF Board Chair Christopher Wilson and architect Joyce Owens as they tell the story of the development of the Southgate subdivision by Rolland King, Frank Smith, Richmond Homes, and others, which made Sarasota School design characteristics accessible to the everyday residential customer.  Tour includes several interior visits of period properties.

“Cocoon/Revere”

Limited to 30 Guests Each
Visit two of the most pristine Sarasota School structures in town: the “Healy Guest House” (aka Cocoon House), 1950, and the “Revere Quality House,” 1948, both designed by architects Ralph Twitchell and Paul Rudolph.  You will be guided through these privately owned, meticulously restored homes by a local architect who is well-versed in the Sarasota School of Architecture movement.
